MY STORY

Beyond Numbers: My Journey of Strategy, Resilience, and Reinvention

The First Mentor
Lessons from My Father

I was born the youngest of three sisters in a close-knit family, where discipline and integrity were not just taught but lived. My father was my first mentor, my guiding force. He taught me to ask the right questions, embrace challenges, and never settle for mediocrity.

But life has a way of testing our strength. In 2009, I lost him, and with him, I lost the voice that had always guided me. His absence left a void, but it also ignited something in me - a deep, unshakable determination to carve my own path, to succeed on my terms, and to carry forward the lessons he had instilled in me.

Finding My Path
From Spa Reception to Revenue Strategy

I entered the hospitality industry not knowing where I truly belonged. My first role was at the Grand Hyatt Delhi, managing the reception of their prestigious health club and spa - one of the most renowned in the country at the time.

It was here that I learned the importance of guest experience, operational efficiency, and the business side of hospitality. I observed how pricing structures, service quality, and brand positioning influenced guest decisions. I became fascinated by the behind-the-scenes mechanics that made businesses profitable - and I knew I wanted to be part of that strategy.

This curiosity led me to Park Plaza Gurgaon, where I transitioned into reservations, giving me my first real glimpse into hotel distribution, pricing, and revenue models. But I wanted to go deeper, to understand the science behind pricing, forecasting, and demand analysis.

Climbing the Ladder
Mastering Revenue Strategy

My breakthrough came when I joined The Oberoi Group in 2005 as a Senior Supervisor in Revenue Management and Distribution. This role was a game-changer - it wasn't just about taking bookings; it was about forecasting demand, setting pricing strategies, and understanding the bigger picture of hotel profitability.

Over the next decade, I moved through various leadership roles at Lemon Tree, Sarovar, and Fortune Park Hotels, each experience sharpening my ability to optimize revenue, decode market trends, and leverage technology to drive profitability. Some key milestones included:

  • Lemon Tree Hotels (2008-2009) - Strengthened my expertise in revenue management and distribution as Deputy Manager.
  • Sarovar Hotels (2009-2010) - Took on greater responsibilities in revenue strategy, managing multiple properties.
  • Fortune Park Hotels (2010-2015) - Worked as a Specialist in Revenue & Distribution, leading revenue initiatives and digital transformation.
  • The Park Hotels (2015) - Served as Director of Electronic Marketing, combining my expertise in digital marketing, reservations, and revenue management to drive online business growth.

I was no longer just executing strategies - I was creating them, implementing them across multiple properties, and training teams to think differently about revenue.

But something still felt incomplete. I realized that revenue management was often misunderstood and underutilized. Many professionals lacked access to structured learning, and students had little exposure to this critical field.

That realization changed everything.

Entrepreneurship and Reinvention
The Revxpert Journey

In 2015, I took a leap of faith and started my own company, The Revxpert. It wasn't just a business - it was a passion project born from my desire to simplify revenue management education and make it accessible to more professionals and students.

With The Revxpert, I worked with hotels, hospitality schools, and professionals across India, providing hands-on training, consulting, and mentorship in revenue management. The goal was simple - to bridge the gap between theory and application.

I conducted workshops, mentored aspiring revenue managers, and worked closely with industry leaders to transform how revenue education was delivered. Seeing students grasp complex concepts, watching professionals apply revenue strategies with confidence - that was more rewarding than any financial success.

While running The Revxpert, I was also invited to guest lecture at IHM Pusa, Le Cordon Bleu, and other hospitality institutions, further cementing my role as a mentor in the industry.

Full Circle
Leading Revenue Transformation at Radisson Hotel Group

After six years of entrepreneurship, I stepped back into the corporate world, bringing my experience as a trainer, consultant, and revenue strategist to a global platform. In 2021, I joined Radisson Hotel Group as Director, Revenue Systems - APAC, leading transformative projects in revenue technology, commercial strategy, and digital distribution.

My role at Radisson allows me to combine technology, revenue management, and leadership, ensuring that hotels across the region embrace digital solutions, optimize distribution, and maximize revenue potential. But what excites me the most is the opportunity to mentor and build strong revenue teams, ensuring that the next generation of professionals are well-equipped to lead the future of hospitality.

Balancing Strategy, Family, and Legacy

While my career has been about disrupting the way revenue management is taught and implemented, my greatest success is my family.

In 2013, I married Sunny, my school-time love and my greatest supporter. In 2014, life gave me its most precious gift - my son, Vivann, was born on my birthday. It felt like destiny's way of telling me that life comes full circle, that joy follows loss, and that new beginnings are always around the corner. Three years later, Ryann completed our family, filling our home with endless laughter and chaos.

Balancing a demanding career and motherhood has been my most complex yet rewarding challenge. It has taught me that success isn't about choosing between work and family - it's about defining both on your own terms.

Why I Do This

I have always believed that mentorship, strategy, and leadership are more than just career milestones - they are responsibilities.

I do this because I've seen firsthand how knowledge can empower. I've watched young professionals transform their careers with the right guidance. I've seen businesses turn around with the right revenue strategies.

I do this because I believe that the future of revenue isn't about spreadsheets and pricing tools - it's about creativity, innovation, and bold decision-making.

The Philosophy That Drives Me

If there's one lesson I've learned from my father, my mentors, and my own experiences, it's this:
"The right strategy isn't always the obvious one; it's the one that disrupts, innovates, and delivers beyond expectations. Don't mistake tactics for strategy—real success comes from seeing the bigger picture, not just the next move."

This belief defines how I approach every challenge, every opportunity, and every mentorship conversation. Because at the end of the day, success isn't just about numbers or technology—it's about vision, leadership, and the willingness to shape the future.
